H&H is serving as Owner’s Engineer and providing design and construction quality oversight services for the VN-89/VN-30 design-build project, rehabilitation of the tower pedestals, elevators, and mooring platforms at the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The $35 million project intends to improve the safety and service life of the tower pedestals and the elevators’ operability. The project will also enhance the FDNY’s ability to support firefighting operations at the facility.

The scope includes major mechanical/electrical rehabilitation of four tower elevators, cofferdam construction and dewatering at tower pedestals for masonry repairs, replacement of the Staten Island mooring platform with the lateral fire standpipe runs, and modification of the Brooklyn Tower mooring platforms to accommodate current FDNY firefighting apparatus and fire standpipe modifications.
