As part of H&H’s Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Comprehensive Engineering Services Joint Venture contract, H&H is leading a bridge preservation project to extend the life of the 83-year-old Hatem Bridge. The work includes a comprehensive cleaning and painting along with miscellaneous structure repairs. Initially, H&H led the bi-annual bridge inspection in 2019 under a separate contract, performing a hands-on inspection.

The 10,362-foot-long bridge comprises multiple deck and through-truss configurations, beam/girder spans, and floor beam/stringer systems. The bridge crosses the Susquehanna River on US 40 and is the oldest of the nine toll facilities operated and maintained by the MDTA.
