Raritan River Bridge Project Celebrates Ground Breaking

September 25, 2020

NJ Governor Phil Murphy and NJ TRANSIT officials recently celebrated the groundbreaking for the replacement of the 112-year-old Raritan River Bridge. The new bridge, a critical link for communities along the New Jersey Coast Line, serving approximately 11,000 daily riders, will provide a more resilient structure with additional vertical clearance, as well as substantially reduce the risk of significant disruptions or outages due to extreme weather events.

H&H, in a joint venture, provided concept development and final design for the offline replacement of the bridge. The project included the design of a vertical lift bridge providing a 300’ channel, as well as the half-mile of approach spans and more than 3,000 l.f. of track between the Perth Amboy and South Amboy stations in New Jersey.
