William Nyman named New York Engineer of the Year by ACEC NY

ACEC New York has named William Nyman, PE, H&H Principal Associate the New York Engineer of the Year.  The Award is given to an active or retired member of ACEC New York who has made significant contributions to the consulting engineering profession, the council, and to his or her community. This is the second year in a row that an H&H team member has received the award.

From ACEC NY’s Press Release:  William Nyman is a Principal Associate and Chief Project Manager with Hardesty & Hanover and is a registered Professional Engineer in eight states. Mr. Nyman’s 36 years of experience with Hardesty & Hanover has encompassed all phases of bridge design and construction for both fixed and movable bridges. His experience has included the design of every major type of movable bridge including single and double leaf bascules, rolling lifts, swing spans as well as vertical lift spans. Mr. Nyman has managed numerous major bridge design projects within New York City with construction costs ranging up to $600 million.  His experience places particular emphasis on large and technically complex projects involving maintaining high traffic volumes and reconciling issues between multiple major stakeholders. These projects typically required extensive coordination with the city, state and federal agencies, and heavy community participation. He has expertise in all phases of bridge project delivery including a broad range of bridge types, addressing constructability issues, and implementation of accelerated bridge construction techniques. His projects have received both local and national recognition by AISC, NSBA, ASCE, NYACE, and ACEC.
