Last week, an article by Anwer Al-Kaimakchi, P.h.D (Tallahassee Office), entitled “Flexural Design Considerations for Prestressed Concrete Girders Using Stainless Steel Strands,” appeared in Aspire Magazine. Dr. Michelle Rambo-Roddenberry, FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, co-authored the article.

This article discusses selected key findings from the project, the special behavior of stainless steel strands, and important design considerations when designing with stainless steel strands.
