H&H Celebrates World Creativity and Innovation Day

April 21, 2021

On World Creativity and Innovation Day, H&H remembers our founder, J.A.L. Waddell, a passionate leader who developed numerous engineering innovations, held several bridge design patents, and authored numerous books and papers. His innovations included developing the modern vertical-lift bridge, studying materials suitable for large-span bridges, and advocating the use of nickel steel in heavily stressed girders.

Dr. Waddell believed that it had to be owned and operated by professional, innovative, and passionate engineers just like him for his company to succeed. These qualities have become the hallmark characteristics of our owners and operators. Today, more than 130 years later, we are proud to say this tradition lives strong.
