Uma Lakshman Recognized as a 2025 ASCE New Faces of Civil Engineering

March 3, 2025

Congratulations to Uma Lakshman, a roadway designer in our New York City office, who has been recognized as an honoree for the 2025 ASCE New Faces of Civil Engineering.

Uma’s dedication to the field extends beyond her work at H&H. As president of the New York Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders, she mentors students and leads global infrastructure projects. She is also committed to supporting women in engineering through her role on the Women in Transportation Seminar Greater New York (WTS-GNY) Chapter’s scholarship committee.

Uma believes empowerment comes from self-sufficiency and confidence. Through discussions at events like the WTS-GNY Gala, she helps young women make informed career decisions and build paths to success. Her leadership and contributions to infrastructure development across the U.S. earned her this recognition from ASCE.

She strives to create a supportive workplace for the next generation – “one where all workers feel comfortable asking questions and confident in their skills,” Uma said.

Congratulations to Uma on this honor!

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) annually recognizes notable civil engineers under 30 through its “New Faces of Civil Engineering” program. ASCE has honored 10 professionals who have demonstrated significant achievements and a commitment to the future of the field.
