Two H&H Projects Honored with AIA NY Awards

May 27, 2026

H&H is proud to announce that two projects have been recognized as part of the AIA New York + American Society of Landscape Architects New York Transportation & Infrastructure Design Excellence Awards 2026, reflecting the firm’s continued commitment to innovative, resilient, and impactful infrastructure design.

The East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) Project in Manhattan received the program’s highest honor, the Best in Competition award. ESCR is one of the first large-scale urban resilience projects of its kind in the United States, designed to protect Lower Manhattan communities from future storm-surge flooding while enhancing waterfront access, resiliency, and public space along the East River. H&H provided preliminary and final design services for the replacement of the Delancey Street Pedestrian Bridge for the NYC Department of Design and Construction in collaboration with the AKRF/KSE JV team. The new structure features concrete cellular ramps and a 209-foot steel tied-arch bridge spanning the FDR Drive, improving accessibility while enhancing the user experience for the surrounding community.

The Renfrew Bridge project also received a Citation in the Structures Category. The double-leaf cable-stayed swing bridge represents a significant achievement in engineering, design, and regional connectivity, showcasing the value of collaboration across a multidisciplinary project team.

These recognitions reflect the collaboration, technical excellence, and innovation demonstrated by the full project teams on both award-winning projects. Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering these impactful and nationally recognized achievements.

The AIANY + ASLA-NY Transportation + Infrastructure Design Excellence Awards celebrate exceptional design in transportation and infrastructure architecture by architects, landscape architects, and planners across the United States. The awards program recognizes built and unbuilt projects for their design, innovation, and impact, raising awareness about the critical role that well-designed infrastructure plays in cities, communities, and everyday life.
