The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and local community members marked the opening of the US 41 Caloosahatchee River Bridge with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, acknowledging the contributions of the partners involved in the project. The bridge opened partially in mid-August 2024, with the celebration on January 17, 2025.
H&H, the lead engineering firm, provided design services for structures, roadways, drainage, and traffic control improvements. Jim Englert, PE, and Chiara Rosignoli, PE, represented H&H at the event.
The ceremony, led by FDOT District One Secretary L.K. Nandam, included a JROTC Fort Myers High School Color Guard presentation, an FDOT-produced video, and remarks from state and local officials. It emphasized collaboration, a shared vision for progress, and a commitment to creating safer, more connected communities.
Project improvements feature an eight-foot sidewalk on the west side, separated from southbound traffic by a vertical barrier, updated median railings, safety curbs, light poles, and enhanced signage. The ten-week detour allowed for efficient construction, with the project completed 16 months earlier than anticipated. This accomplishment highlights H&H’s dedication to safety, quality engineering, and supporting community development.
