SR A1A North Causeway Bridge Officially Opens to Traffic

May 15, 2026

The new SR A1A North Causeway Bridge officially opened to traffic today, marking a major milestone for the region’s transportation infrastructure and connectivity.

H&H provided comprehensive engineering planning and design services for FDOT on the project, which replaces the previous crossing with a new high-level fixed bridge carrying SR A1A and the East Coast Greenway over the Intracoastal Waterway, the FEC Railway, and Old Dixie Highway.

The project included the design of the new bridge and approaches, a new observation deck bridge emerging beneath SR A1A from the west shoreline, roadway realignments, and extensive civil improvements within a highly constrained corridor that included adjacent state roads, frontage roads, access roads, and active railway crossings.

The SR A1A North Causeway project reflects H&H’s integrated, multidisciplinary approach to infrastructure delivery, combining structural, roadway, and civil engineering expertise to support improved mobility, regional connectivity, resiliency, and long-term value for the surrounding communities.
