The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Opens To Traffic

April 5, 2018

(Kittery, ME) The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge opened to traffic on March 30th, at 3 pm. The official opening ceremony will take place in mid-May. H&H Chief Operating Officer, Michael Hawkins and Project Engineer, Rebecca Frein were in attendance, as the first cars drove over the bridge. A joint project between Maine DOT and New Hampshire DOT, the bridge provides a regional link between Maine and New Hampshire and is the critical back-up route in case of disruption on the Interstate 95 Bridge.

H&H provided design services for the preliminary design, final design, and design support during construction, including providing a preliminary design report, plans, design and design check computations, ratings, specifications, and cost estimates for the replacement bridge project.
