H&H was responsible for design engineering services, including the in-depth inspection, deck replacement alternatives analysis, replacement of bridge deck (including joints), replacement of bridge railing, rehabilitation of steel superstructure, replacement of floor system, replacement or rehabilitation of bearings, repairs to abutments, “as-inspected” load rating and “as-rehabilitated” load rating. The main structural members include arch, cable, vertical hangers, floorbeams, stringers, gusset plates and open grid deck. Deterioration of the members was included in the “as-inspected” rating.
The existing single-span steel tied arch was constructed in 1939 and added to the Department’s Red List in 2014. The 175-foot span (CL pin to CL pin) consists of seven panels. The bridge width is 24-feet curb-to-curb, and there are two foot-six-inch safety walks on each side. The bridge is posted with a height restriction of 12 feet, five inches.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025.
