H&H has provided transportation engineering design services for the Gandy Boulevard / SR 694 Improvement Design-Build including traffic control and drainage design services.
Gandy Boulevard / SR 694 is a critical central Pinellas County corridor, connecting the Gulf Beaches with a four-lane bridge over Tampa Bay. After years of planning, FDOT D7 elected to convert this at-grade four-lane arterial into an elevated expressway with bridges over three intersecting arterial roadways.
Key challenges have included: stormwater permitting using TMDL requirements; limited right-of-way for traffic control, requiring off-site bicycle detours; redesign of stormwater conveyance systems to minimize utility relocation scheduling conflicts; preparation of a watershed study to address local flooding; and traffic control plans for the replacement of a triple 10’ x 5’ box culvert.
