H&H is leading the detailed inspection, condition report, design, and construction phase services for the major rehabilitation for this 78-foot table-top vertical lift span and the approach spans. The work includes replacing the lift-span open grid deck with an Exodermic deck with lightweight concrete, new railings, sidewalk, and complete machinery and electrical equipment replacement.

The hydraulically operated bridge was constructed in 1978 and carries four traffic lanes, two in each direction. The three-span structure’s overall length is 174.42 feet between abutment bearings, with a 74.1-foot-long lift span. The bridge serves as one of the main arteries that connect Milwaukee’s Downtown and Westown neighborhoods.
