H&H provided award-winning construction management and inspection services for the major rehabilitation of the Bayville Bascule Bridge, which carries West Shore Road over Mill Neck Creek in the Town of Oyster Bay. Connecting Mill Neck with neighboring communities, the bridge serves as a vital route for thousands of Bayville residents, commuters, visitors, and emergency vehicles.

In addition, H&H provided mechanical and electrical technical support services during construction. This is the fourth bridge to be constructed at this location, with the original dating back to 1938. The structure required significant repairs following damage from Hurricane Sandy.

The rehabilitation involved extensive repairs and upgrades to various components of the bridge, including its movable span, span drive systems (mechanical and electrical), and control house. Work also encompassed the approach spans, superstructure, and main interior girders to increase the load rating to HS-20. Bearings and joints were retrofitted, the fender system was replaced, and existing substructures were repaired and retained. Upgrades to lighting and other incidental work were also included in the project scope.
