H&H served as the designer in charge of the electrical system upgrade for the FDR Drive Underpass, commonly referred to as the Battery Park Underpass, including the construction of a structure over the FDR Drive Underpass as part of the NYSDOT’s Route 9A Segment 1 Project. The scope of work involved coordination of the ventilation requirements, design of the roadway lighting system, design of the fire detection system modifications, and design of the electrical and control system upgrades for the modified underpass.

H&H developed design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimate package for the project. The structure lengthened the Battery Park Underpass by approximately 40 feet, requiring upgrading of the mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems for the tunnel.
