H&H provided biennial bridge inspection services for the cable-stayed Goethals Bridge (eastbound and westbound structures), including the structure approach ramps. Work included a hands-on field inspection of the cable-stayed main spans primary elements, including the towers, main cable sockets, and span floor system, developing NYSDOT and NJDOT Reports, and a Facility Condition Survey. The H&H inspection team worked closely with NYNJ Link to perform inspections within strict traffic maintenance windows.

In 2013, two new cable-stayed crossings, which would replace the existing cantilever span, were approved. The first of the two spans, running parallel to the old bridge, opened on June 10, 2017, at which time the original span was closed. The second new span will open in 2018. The Goethals Bridge carries 1-278 over the Arthur Kill, connects Staten Island to New Jersey, and provides critical access for commuters and freight carriers between New Jersey and New York.
