New York, New York – The new Willis Avenue Bridge was opened to traffic at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning October 2nd in New York City. Hardesty & Hanover representatives were in attendance, along with Henry Perahia (NYCDOT Chief Bridge Officer) was on-site for the ribbon cutting and joined the Willis Team in their celebration of the momentous occasion.
This $612M bridge replacement project will greatly improve the connections to the FDR Drive into Manhattan and to the northbound Major Deegan Expressway. From preliminary to final design, and construction support services, Hardesty & Hanover provided comprehensive engineering services for the full project on behalf of the New York City Department of Transportation – Division of Bridges.
