On Monday, November 17, H&H’s Elana Freedman, PE and Judy Wu, PE joined project partners and community members to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project, enhancing connections between the Hunts Point Peninsula and the Sheridan and Bruckner Expressways.
H&H served as Owner’s Engineer and DQAE for the $1.7B NYSDOT initiative, supporting safety, mobility, and community-focused upgrades across 1.5 miles of Bronx infrastructure, including major bridge replacements and rehabilitations, new pedestrian connections, parkland, drainage systems, and landscaping delivered under Contracts One, Two, and Three. Contract Three also widened the Bruckner Viaduct, replaced expressway and pedestrian bridges, and improved intersections, ADA access, shared-use paths, signals, and drainage.
These improvements play a key role in removing trucks from neighborhood streets, reconnecting local communities, and strengthening access to Bronx River waterfront parks and shared-use paths, advancing a safer and more resilient transportation network for the South Bronx.
Congratulations to H&H, NYSDOT and the entire team who contributed to this project.
