GNOEC Safety Bay Improvement Project Recognized For Excellence In Concrete Construction

March 1, 2022

The Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission (GNOEC) Safety Bay Project was recognized recently by the Louisiana Chapter, of the American Concrete Institute for Excellence in Concrete Construction at their annual awards ceremony.  The Project received a Project Award of Excellence in the Infrastructure category and an Overall Best Project Award. The project will proceed on to the ACI International Excellence in Concrete Awards Program.

To be considered for an ACI Award, projects must be of predominately concrete construction, which may be cast-in-place, precast, prestressed, or post-tensioned concrete or concrete masonry. The program is intended to recognize owners, architects, engineers, and contractors who specify, design, and construct projects which use concrete materials.

H&H provided construction engineering and inspection services for the project that was implemented along the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Toll Bridge. This fast-paced, $60M CMAR construction project significantly increased emergency stopping areas and widened both bridges to provide new shoulders in six locations on each bridge.  Boh Brothers Construction Co. served as the contractor.

Congratulations to the entire project team.
