November 10, 2021

At the recent American Segmental Bridge Institute’s Annual Conference in Tucson, AZ, Corven Engineering, an H&H company, received two ASBI Awards of Excellence.

The Alabama DOT I-59/I-20 Central Business District Elevated Interstate Project received the Urban Bridge Award of Excellence, and the Florida DOT Roosevelt Bridge, Emergency Repair Project, received the Special Project Award of Excellence.

For the I-59/I-20 Central Business District Elevated Interstate Project, Corven Engineering created the final design of the precast segmental superstructure for new bridges on the heavily traveled Interstate 59 and Interstate 20 through downtown Birmingham, AL.  The project also received a 2021 Grand Award for Engineering Excellence from ACEC Alabama.

For the Roosevelt Bridge, Emergency Repair Project in Stuart, FL, Corven Engineering was the Engineer of Record for the design of the permanent repairs. Innovative technical concepts were required to accomplish the repairs.

The American Segmental Bridge Institute is a nonprofit organization that provides a forum where owners, designers, constructors, and suppliers can meet to further refine the current design, construction, and construction management procedures, and evolve new techniques that will advance the quality and use of concrete segmental bridges. The Awards of Excellence are in recognition of bridges that exemplify concrete segmental bridge design and construction excellence.

Congratulations to all who were involved in these award-winning projects.
