Chincoteague Bridge Replacement Project Wins 2010 Infrastructure Excellence in Concrete

March 3, 2011

Richmond, VA – On March 3, 2011, Hardesty & Hanover’s Route 175 Chincoteague Bridge Replacement project was recognized with the 2010 Infrastructure Excellence in Concrete Award.  The award was presented to the team at the 2011 Annual Virginia Concrete Conference by the Virginia Chapter of American Concrete Institute (ACI).

The new Chincoteague Bridge, opened to traffic on October of 2010, measures over 4,000 feet and includes a single leaf bascule bridge allowing marine traffic through the navigation channel.  The bridge replaces and circa 1939 swing span, whose deterioration led to the need for replacement.
