Bret Farmer, PE, Joins H&H as National Director of Freight Rail

H&H is pleased to announce that Bret Farmer, PE, has joined the firm as National Director of Freight Rail. In this role, he will lead our practice that includes bridge, station and facility design, inspection and maintenance services for our freight railroad clients. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Minnesota, where he served on the Board of Directors, and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, where he is currently serving as incoming chairman of Committee 8 – Concrete Structures and Foundations.

Mr. Farmer has more than 26 years of experience in transportation engineering, focusing on freight rail projects. Most recently he served as Vice President of a national engineering firm, leading their rail practice. He managed all aspects of their multidisciplinary rail group which consisted of more than 45 engineers, architects, surveyors, designers and construction managers in six offices located across the United States. His experience includes Class 1, short line and passenger railroads as well as providing railroad coordination for public agencies and private industrial clients.

A graduate of Iowa State University, Mr. Farmer earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil and Construction Engineering with an emphasis in structures, and his MBA from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management.
