Bacalan-Bastide Bridge Project Set to Begin with Cornerstone Ceremony

Bordeaux, France – Construction is set to begin for the Bacalan-Bastide Bridge over the Garonne River in Bordeaux, France. A “cornerstone” ceremony will take place on December 9th to signify the start of the project. Hardesty & Hanover is the project’s movable bridge consultant for the team.  Consultants include Vinci Construction, EGIS-JMI, Michel Virlogeux, and Lavigne & Cheron Architects. The team will design and build this dramatic 433 meter-long vertical-lift bridge. The 117 meter-long main span will be lifted for marine traffic by four 80 meter-tall towers. The project is expected to take over 33 months.
