Arlington Memorial Bridge, Kew Gardens Interchange Win 2022 Project Awards

The Arlington Memorial Bridge and the Kew Gardens Interchange (All Phases) projects were recently recognized for project excellence.

The Arlington Memorial Bridge was recognized with a 2022 Prize Bridge Merit Award, Medium Span from the American Institute of Steel Construction, and the National Steel Bridge Alliance. H&H was part of the Kiewit/AECOM design-build team selected for the $192M project to rehabilitate the Arlington Memorial Bridge. The project included the repair of the concrete arches and stone facades on ten approach spans, replacing the bascule span’s steel superstructure, reconstructing the bridge deck and sidewalks, and resurfacing the bridge. The rehabilitation was one of the largest transportation infrastructure projects in National Park Service history.

The Kew Gardens Interchange was recognized with a 2022 Construction Achievement Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers – Metropolitan Section. The Award is presented, in recognition of excellence and unique application of civil engineering principles, for a major construction project completed within the past year within the New York metropolitan area. The Kew Gardens Interchange is the confluence of the Van Wyck Expressway, Grand Central Parkway, and Jackie Robinson Parkway. This three-level interchange also includes Union Turnpike and Queens Boulevard. H&H has provided engineering services ranging from preliminary design, final design, owner’s engineer, and construction phase services on multiple project phases. In past years, the project has received multiple awards from ACEC NY: Contract 2A – 2016 Diamond Award, Phase 1 – 2018 Diamond Award, and Phase 3 – 2021 Gold Award.
