The latest issue of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Structures Magazine features “The Swinging Bridge: Scotland’s Renfrew Bridge Balances Design, Efficiency, and Constructability” by Jim Phillips, PE*, and Barry Keung, PE**.
The feature highlights the engineering and collaboration behind the Renfrew Bridge, showcasing how the project balanced technical complexity, constructability, and efficiency to deliver a landmark movable bridge spanning Scotland’s River Clyde.
H&H led the design of the swing spans and movable elements in collaboration with Roughan & O’Donovan. The design-build project team included GRAHAM, which led the overall scheme, along with the Hollandia Infra and Iemants joint venture, which led the swing span team.
The Renfrew Bridge project was also recently recognized with an American Council of Engineering Companies of New York Engineering Excellence Gold Award and an American Institute of Architects New York + American Society of Landscape Architects New York Transportation & Infrastructure Design Excellence Citation Award for Structures.
